From Desert Dreams to Dino Glow: Burning Man Opens, Boston Hooks a Win, Jurassic Giants Invade Charlotte, and Texas Lights Up the Summer

Dust, Dreams, and a Deadline: Registration Opens for Burning Man 2026 Main Sale

If you’ve ever wanted to stand in the middle of a temporary city of 70,000 people, watch a massive wooden effigy burn, and then watch the entire city vanish days later—now is the time to start planning.

Burning Man Project announced Monday that registration is now open for the 2026 Main Sale, the primary opportunity for most participants to secure tickets to the annual gathering in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. And if you’re hoping for the lowest prices, this is the sale to watch.

The Main Sale begins Wednesday, April 29 at 12 p.m. Pacific time. But before you can buy, you’ll need to register. No registration, no ticket—it’s that simple.

A City That Appears, Then Disappears

For the uninitiated, Burning Man isn’t a festival in the traditional sense. There are no booked headliners, no VIP sections, and very little you can buy once you’re inside. Instead, attendees—called participants—build the experience themselves: art installations, themed camps, mutant vehicles, performances, and countless acts of gifting and generosity.

This year’s theme is Axis Mundi, a Latin phrase referring to the center of the world or a connection between heaven and earth. Organizers expect participants from more than 100 countries to help bring that concept to life across the desert playa.

“Black Rock City is a place people build together—through art, generosity, and shared effort,” said Burning Man Project CEO Marian Goodell. “Its ephemerality is part of what makes it powerful. You can’t come later—you have to show up and be part of it. Each year offers a new chance to participate in something larger than yourself.”

Ticket Tiers: Pay What You Can (Within Reason)

Burning Man has long used a tiered pricing model to balance accessibility with the high costs of producing a event in one of the harshest environments on Earth. This year’s Main Sale offers several price points, all of which grant the same full access to the event:

  • $550 and $675 – “Get the gift” tickets (limited availability)
  • $775 – “Pay your way” tickets
  • $975, $1,500, and $3,000 – “Give the gift” tickets, for those able to contribute more

Vehicle passes are also available for $165.

For those who need extra flexibility, an interest-free payment plan is available. And for participants facing financial or personal hardships, Burning Man offers a few additional pathways:

  • Ticket Aid – Reduced-price tickets at $250 for those on limited incomes
  • Renaissance – Connects community leaders and groups to bring their creative networks to the playa
  • Resilience – For individuals impacted by natural disasters or geopolitical conflict

Why Register Now?

The Main Sale is widely considered the best chance for most participants to secure tickets at the lowest available price points. While other sales and programs exist, this is the primary window for the broader community.

And if you’ve never been? Goodell’s advice is simple: don’t wait for a livestream or a highlight reel. The experience, she says, cannot be replicated.

Burning Man 2026 will mark another year of building Black Rock City from nothing—and leaving it that way just days later. For more than 70,000 people, that fleeting, dust-covered week is worth the planning, the preparation, and the price.

Lights Out, Lines Tight: Boston Crew Hooks First Win of 2026 Sport Fishing Championship Season

KEY WEST, Fla. – The 2026 Sport Fishing Championship season is officially underway, and one team has already sent a message to the rest of the field: Lights Out Boston came to play.

The Lights Out Boston Anglers Club captured its first victory of the season at the Key West Classic, held April 17–19, kicking off the SFC campaign with a performance that blended teamwork, preparation, and a whole lot of sailfish.

Over three days of competition, five different anglers shared in six sailfish catches, earning the team 450 points in a tournament that brought together both the Atlantic and Gulf Divisions. It was a statement win for a crew that spent the winter proving they don’t take a season off.

Offseason? Not Exactly.

While most competitive circuits shut down for the winter, Lights Out Boston stayed on the water—and on the move.

Team owner Drew Dolben said the momentum from 2025 never really faded. Instead, the team doubled down, spending the offseason fishing some of the most demanding waters in the Pacific, from Cabo San Lucas to Costa Rica.

“The SFC has raised the bar for competitive billfishing,” Dolben said. “If you want to stay at the front of the pack, you have to treat the offseason like part of the season. We spent the winter fishing some of the best waters in the Pacific, refining our approach and building experience together. The result is a team that is ready for action and coming into 2026 with confidence.”

Last season, Lights Out Boston closed out the 2025 Atlantic Division schedule with three tournament wins and a run to the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs. This year, they shipped their 62-foot Viking, Lights Out, to Cabo for the playoffs, then continued down the Pacific coast to Costa Rica for what team leader and boat owner Rob Carmichael calls “over-the-top sailfishing.”

The plan? Bring the boat back through the Panama Canal and up through the Caribbean just in time for the Key West Classic.

Carmichael pointed to the team’s stop at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica, as a turning point. The Pacific sailfishing there is famously fast and furious—teaser bites, doubles, triples, even quads.

“Quepos is outstanding because you get a lot of sail bites, teaser bites, doubles, triples, quads,” Carmichael said. “That kind of fishing really tightens up a crew. By the end of the trip, we were communicating better, reacting faster, and working fish more efficiently. It was exactly the preparation we wanted heading into the SFC season.”

Those high-pressure moments proved critical last season, and the team believes those reps will pay off in the tournaments ahead.

A Growing League

The Sport Fishing Championship continues to expand. New teams like the Rhode Island Breakers and the South Florida Sails (under new ownership) have joined the circuit, and the league has refined its scoring and transparency efforts to help fans follow the action more closely.

Dolben says the evolution of the league is exactly what competitive anglers need.

“The league keeps getting better,” he said. “The competition is deeper every year, and the rules continue to evolve in ways that reward preparation, teamwork, and good fishing practices. That’s exactly the kind of environment we want to compete in.”

What’s Next for Lights Out Boston

The Key West Classic was just the first stop. Lights Out Boston will continue its 2026 Atlantic Division schedule with a slate of major tournaments:

  • May 15–17 – Walker’s Cay Open, Walker’s Cay, Bahamas
  • May 29–31 – SFC Carrier Cup sponsored by HUK, Charleston, South Carolina
  • July 17–19 – Cape Cod Bluewater Classic, Boston, Massachusetts
  • July 24–26 – Rhode Island Offshore Invitational, Newport, Rhode Island
  • Aug. 21–23 – The MidAtlantic (Atlantic Championship), Ocean City, Maryland
  • Oct. 17–19 – Zane Grey Championship Playoffs (Championship), Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Fans can expect a series of watch events throughout the season, with the team planning opportunities for supporters to follow the action live.

Carmichael summed up the team’s mindset simply: “We learned a lot in 2025, especially down the stretch. Now we’re coming into this season with a tighter program and an experienced crew that’s hungry to compete. The Atlantic Division is never easy, but we’re here for it.”

Saturday Night Lights: This Texas Campground Is Launching Fireworks Every Single Weekend This Summer

TYLER, Texas – For most campgrounds, fireworks are a once-or-twice-a-summer kind of thing. Maybe the Fourth of July. Maybe Labor Day. But every Saturday? That’s almost unheard-of.

Fireworks every weekend through Labor Day Weekend at Jellystone Park Tyler in Tyler, Texas.

Jellystone Park™ Tyler is changing that. Starting now and running through Labor Day, the East Texas campground will light up the sky every Saturday night with a nearly 20-minute fireworks show — making it one of the only campgrounds in Texas to offer weekend fireworks all summer long.

The shows launch over the park’s scenic pond, burn bans permitting. And according to park leadership, the decision came down to one thing: guests kept asking for it.

‘Your Kids Won’t Forget It’

Past fireworks nights at Jellystone Park Tyler drew enthusiastic responses from visiting families, with some calling the shows “one of those moments your kids won’t forget.”

“Our guests told us loud and clear that fireworks were among the highlights of their stay, so we’re giving them that moment every single weekend,” said Tessa McCrackin, Chief Marketing Officer of Northgate Resorts, which owns Jellystone Park Tyler. “There’s something unforgettable about watching kids light up with the same excitement as the sky above them, and we wanted to make that a reliable part of summer for Texas families.”

On Saturday fireworks nights, guests can also enjoy music, a pop-up bar, and themed glow items. Glow sticks, necklaces, and other accessories are available for purchase anytime at the park’s Ranger Station.

A Summer of Celebration

The weekly fireworks are also part of a larger tribute: the United States’ 250th anniversary. From June 22 through July 5, Jellystone Park Tyler will host “250 Years: A Bear-y American Celebration,” a two-week program featuring:

  • Patriotic entertainment
  • Classic outdoor games
  • Red, white, and blue kids’ activities
  • A Golf Cart Decorating Contest and Parade

More Than Just Fireworks

Jellystone Park Tyler isn’t just an evening destination. The park operates as a full-scale family camping resort with amenities open daily during peak season, including:

  • A water playground
  • Organized activities and character programming (Yogi Bear™ and friends make appearances)
  • On-site dining

Lodging options range from cabins to RV sites to tent camping, making the park accessible for families who want to rough it — or not.

Plan Your Weekend

The Saturday fireworks run now through Labor Day. The park is located in Tyler, Texas, within driving distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
