‘You Changed My Life’: Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors Celebrate First Wedding Anniversary Amid Controversy and Comeback

In a deeply personal Instagram post that has sparked both celebration and skepticism, actress Meagan Good marked her first wedding anniversary with actor Jonathan Majors, declaring their union “the greatest love story I’ve ever known.”

“The greatest love story I’ve ever known… You. Changed. My. Life. .. in every way I’ve ever dreamed ..and hoped for .. in ways I didn’t know were tangible,” Good wrote to her millions of followers. “I love you. With every breath I take ..and then- whatever is next ; I will still love you eternally. I pray our spirits existence- exists alongside each other inside of God forever. Happy Number 1 My Love of Life. ~ Mrs Majors”

The anniversary arrives at a pivotal moment for the couple, who have weathered a storm of controversy since Majors’ highly publicized assault conviction and subsequent fallout with Marvel Studios. While some fans flooded Good’s comments with heartfelt messages—”watching you guys love one another in pure authenticity and honest admiration for one another makes my heart smile”—others have been less convinced, suggesting the relationship has been carefully curated to rehabilitate Majors’ image and win back Black audiences.

It’s been a trying year for the Hollywood pair, who have engaged in what critics describe as strategic public appearances to refurbish a career that once seemed destined for superstardom.

Yet amid the scrutiny, the couple recently shared a moment of profound personal significance. Just last week, Good and Majors were awarded citizenship in the West African nation of Guinea after tracing their ancestry through DNA testing. In a private ceremony Friday in the capital of Conakry, the couple was officially embraced as “worthy sons and daughters of this Guinea.”

“You represent our country, the red-yellow-green flag all over the world,” said Djiba Diakité, head of the president’s cabinet, during the emotional ceremony. The couple is scheduled to tour the country’s tourist sites.

The milestone anniversary and African homecoming stand in stark contrast to the turmoil that has shadowed Majors over the past two years. The actor, once poised to be Marvel’s next big villain as Kang the Conqueror, saw his career derailed following his December 2023 conviction for misdemeanor assault and harassment against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

Jabbari, a British dancer he met on the set of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” had accused Majors of subjecting her to escalating physical and verbal abuse. During a Manhattan altercation, she testified, Majors hit her head, twisted her arm behind her back, and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured. Majors maintained he was the victim of Jabbari’s jealous rage and was only trying to retrieve his phone and escape safely.

He avoided jail time but was ordered to complete a yearlong counseling program. Marvel Studios dropped him immediately following the verdict.

Jabbari’s defamation and assault lawsuit against Majors was dismissed after both parties reached a settlement. Her attorney said the case was “favorably settled” and praised Jabbari’s “tremendous courage throughout this very long and difficult process.”

For Good, who stood by Majors throughout the trial and became engaged to him in 2024, the past year has been a testament to unwavering loyalty. The couple wed in a small, impromptu ceremony last year as Majors promoted his long-shelved film “Magazine Dreams.” That film, which had generated early Oscar buzz, has now been acquired for theatrical release—a sign that Majors may be slowly reemerging in Hollywood.

As they celebrate one year of marriage, the couple faces a divided public—some cheering their love story, others watching with wary eyes. But in Good’s anniversary message, there is no room for doubt: “I will still love you eternally.”
